AMARCORD '80 : THE TIGERS SUPPORTERS

Tiger Supporters was the first "Ultras" group to be born in Busto Arsizio, they were the sons of that generational replacement and having the so typical enthusiasm of the 20 years aged boys, that the first Commandos Tigri had taken some years before in 1973.

To tell the truth, the first unit of hot supporters ( not exactly ultras ) appeared in Busto Arsizio during the season 1971-72, when some kids belonging to the youth wing of the "Pro Patria Club" used to support Pro Patria on sundays hanging the first banners and waving the first folk flags.

First Bustocco's fans: years 1972

But the Tiger Supporters banner made its first appareance at the beginning of the season 1979/80: the name proved its Anglosaxon origin ( a very diffuse fashion in those years and probably copied by Lazio's Eagles Supporters, a very trendy group in that period ).

The real points of honour of the group were both the very deep link with the Busto's shirt and the will's unity, and surely a real reason of pride is the fact that they visited "holy" pitches in those years, when in the away matches travels there wasn't so much police like today.

Only who lived so deeply that period could understand the taste of such games and of such "hot" away matches: the police-repression practically didn't exist, and the Ultras Movement was getting stronger and stronger in those years all over Italy, and also in Busto that group of kids standing in the central terrace could make themselves respected.

The away match in Rimini in 1982/82 still remains unforgettable, because it was the "hope's away game": the match that should have been our "pass" to stay in "serie C1" league and that instead ratified our sure relegation after only one year of staying up.

The derby games against Legnano in the season 1981/82 were fine and very "hot" ( more than 600 travelling fans ), but also Novara in 1980/81 and  Brescia, a particulary hostile pitch in those years as Brescia's little "swallows" passed from serie A to serie C1 in only two years.

The typical supporters' joking atmosphere emerged several times in Busto. We would like to remember during the season 1981/82, the matches when two Tiger Supporters boys in the home matches against our everlasting rival Legnano and against the leader of the league Carrarese took two painted respectevely with lilac and yellow/blue colours W.C, the colours of these two clubs, crossing the Athletics ring and putting them under the end occupied by the away fans.

The first impact for whom entered the stadium Speroni was represented by military camouflaged jackets, big woolen scarves, big boarded flags with the Tricolore ( Italian flag ) and the drums' rolling.

In that age a nice brotherhood relationship with S.Angelo Ultras ( actually they are in serie D league) was set up, such as with the old Saronno Ultras ( but this was lost with the passing of the years ), then there were relationships of reciprocal visits with the old Varese Boys but this friendship created several troubles inside the group as a matter of fact somebody didn't agree with the presence of "Varese Boys" in Busto, whom anyway they never miss to show themselves, as for example in a Pro vs. Brescia match aged 1982/83 and in a Pro vs. Triestina always in that year.

The Tigers' wing that disagreed to this friendship, created a nice friendship with Sampdoria "Ultras Tito" with whom they attended a "hot" Varese - Sampdoria match.

The group's life lasted about 10 years till the moment when "Commandos Tigri" entered again at the guide of Pro supporting. This happened during the season 1989/90.
